Volunteering Opportunities

aboutus_ourmission1Gateway Volunteers 107 Jarvis St, Toronto Ont.

Gateway volunteers come from many different walks of life and work toward a common goal: providing compassionate service and care to our residents and community members. The time and energy our volunteers contribute to the Gateway is greatly appreciated and it is our hope that their Gateway experience is equally enriching and rewarding.

Individuals: Volunteers serve in a number of ways at the Gateway. We welcome help in our kitchen, with housekeeping, in our clothing room and with special events. We`re also open to new ideas! If you have a skill you could share or an idea for an activity that you could organize, let us know.

Groups: The Gateway welcomes groups of volunteers to serve meals on special occasions, host events or to do service projects. While an ideal group size is between six and ten people, we are flexible.

Gateway Linens & Disposal Services is a self-sustaining enterprise AND an employment re-training program focused on supporting individuals who have experienced significant marginalization and barriers to employment. As these participants sort, wash, fold and send out laundry to our customers (partners), they simultaneously receive direct employment-related training and take part in life skills, financial literacy and other personalized support services. The end goal is complete reintegration into the workforce and/or full-time education, and therefore to achieve the social bottom line of being a transforming influence in our community.
